• Supervise and direct all offshore drilling activities ensuring adherence to planned drilling programs.
• Monitor drilling parameters, well control, and performance metrics, making real-time decisions to optimize drilling efficiency.
• Ensure all equipment and operations are in full compliance with technical and regulatory standards.
• Oversee the rig-up, spud, and teardown processes, coordinating effectively with rig contractors and service providers.
• Lead and manage a team of drilling engineers, tool pushers, and rig personnel.
• Provide guidance and technical support to junior staff; conduct routine safety and skills training.
• Mentor and develop team members to enhance operational capabilities and ensure readiness for emergency situations.
• Enforce robust safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
• Conduct daily safety meetings (toolbox talks), risk assessments, and on-site inspections.
• Respond to and manage emergency situations, coordinating with emergency response teams and ensuring accurate incident reporting.
• Liaise with drilling engineers, geologists, and service providers to ensure seamless integration of technical input into operational plans.
• Oversee maintenance and operational readiness of drilling equipment, ensuring preventive maintenance schedules are met.
• Manage logistics for offshore operations, including equipment mobilization, supplies, and downtime reduction strategies.
• Collaborate with onshore management to review drilling reports, performance data, and cost control measures.
• Prepare detailed drilling reports, performance summaries, and incident reports for senior management review.
• Ensure proper documentation of daily operations, maintenance activities, and compliance with drilling programs.
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Petroleum Engineering, or a related field; additional certifications in offshore drilling operations are a plus.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in drilling operations, with a significant portion in an offshore environment.
• In-depth knowledge of drilling fluids, well control, pressure management, and formation evaluation.
• Familiarity with drilling technologies and equipment.
• Excellent decision-making, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of attention to detail.
• Proficient in using drilling software and real-time monitoring systems.
• Willingness to work in a demanding offshore environment, including exposure to harsh weather conditions and extended periods away from shore.
• Physical ability to perform on-site inspections and participate in emergency response actions when needed.
• Professional certifications related to drilling operations, project management, or safety (such as IWCF well control certification).
• Proven track record of managing high-pressure and emergency situations on rig floors.
